Terms of Service

Last updated: May 8, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CanadaHeatPumpGrants(the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What we are

CanadaHeatPumpGrants is an independent referral and information service operating in Canada that connects Canadian homeowners with information about federal and provincial heat pump grant programs and matches them with NRCan-registered installers, manufacturer-certified dealers, and utility programs in their geographic area. We are not a heat pump installer, contractor, or government agency, and we do not perform installation services.

We are not affiliated with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) or any provincial utility. All grant program details cited on our website are based on publicly available information and may change without notice. Always verify program details with the relevant government authority before applying.

Service is offered in English-speaking Canadian provinces (BC, AB, MB, SK, ON, NB, NS, PE, NL, YT). Service is not available in Quebec, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut at this time.

What we are not

  • We are not a heat pump installer or contractor; we do not perform installations, removals, or any other work
  • We are not a government agency, utility, energy advisor, or insurance carrier
  • We do not warrant or guarantee any work performed by installers we match you with
  • We do not independently verify installer NRCan registration, provincial trade certifications, or insurance. The homeowner is responsible for verifying these directly
  • We do not provide legal, financial, energy, or professional advice
  • Grant program eligibility, amounts, application procedures, and program availability are determined solely by the relevant government authority — not by us

Grant program information disclaimer

Federal and provincial heat pump grant programs change frequently. Information published on this site reflects publicly available program details at the time of publication and is provided for general information only. Specifically:

  • Eligibility criteria, dollar amounts, application procedures, deadlines, and program availability may change without notice
  • Some programs cited may have closed since publication; verify with the program administrator before applying
  • Income thresholds, geographic restrictions, and equipment specifications are determined by the program authority
  • Calculator estimates on this site are illustrative; final eligibility and award amounts are determined by the program administrator

We strongly recommend verifying current program details with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and your provincial energy authority before submitting any application or making purchase decisions.

Independent installer relationships

All installers, dealers, and utility partners in our matching network are independent businesses. They set their own pricing, scheduling, estimate fees, warranty terms, and scope of service. Any agreement, contract, or transaction you enter into with an installer or utility is solely between you and that party.

CanadaHeatPumpGrants does not employ any installer or utility partner, does not control their work, and is not responsible for their conduct, performance, failures, or breaches of contract. Disputes between homeowners and installers must be resolved directly with the installer.

User obligations

By using the Service, you agree:

  • To provide accurate, current, and complete information when submitting requests or running the grant calculator
  • Not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms
  • Not to interfere with the operation of the Service or attempt unauthorized access
  • To verify installer NRCan registration, provincial trade certifications, and insurance before authorizing any work
  • To verify grant program details directly with the program authority (NRCan or provincial agency) before applying
  • To resolve any disputes with installers directly with that installer

Intellectual property

All content on the Service (text, graphics, logos, code) is owned by CanadaHeatPumpGrants or its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or use the content without express written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.

References to third-party brands (heat pump manufacturers, certifications, government programs, utilities) are made under nominative fair use principles for identification and educational purposes only and do not imply endorsement by or affiliation with those brands. Federal and provincial program names (Canada Greener Homes Grant, Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program, CleanBC, Save on Energy, etc.) are referenced as the names of real public programs.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information presented is accurate or current. Grant program information, installer qualifications, and cost estimates are provided for general guidance only and do not constitute professional advice.

All persons depicted in photos or videos on this site are actors or models and not installers in our network.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, CanadaHeatPumpGrants is not liable for:

  • Any work performed (or not performed) by an installer in our network
  • Any grant application denial, eligibility determination, or program rule change
  • Any damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or interaction with an installer or utility
  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Any decision you make about heat pump selection, sizing, installer selection, or grant program participation

Some Canadian jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, in which case those limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as fraud or gross negligence).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold CanadaHeatPumpGrants harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your interaction with an installer, or your reliance on grant program information cited on the site.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in accordance with PIPEDA, CASL, and applicable provincial privacy laws.

Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by a prominent notice on our homepage and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and applicable federal Canadian laws, without reference to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes arising under these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, except where mandatory provincial consumer protection law gives a homeowner the right to bring an action in their home province.
